Structure
Albiglutide fuses a modified GLP-1(7-36) sequence to recombinant human albumin. The large molecular size (~73 kDa) reduces renal clearance while albumin binding properties extend circulation time.
Clinical Applications
Was approved for type 2 diabetes as Tanzeum (2014). Discontinued by GlaxoSmithKline in 2018 for commercial reasons.
