Overview

Amyloid-beta → Neprilysin (Substrate) is a bioactive peptide with well-characterized properties and therapeutic applications.

Mechanism of Action

Neprilysin (Zn2+ metalloprotease) cleaves Aβ at multiple sites including His14-Gln15, Phe19-Phe20, and other hydrophobic residues, generating non-amyloidogenic fragments. NEP is the dominant Aβ-degrading enzyme in brain.
