Mechanism of Action
ACE (Zn2+ metalloprotease) cleaves C-terminal dipeptide His9-Leu10 from angiotensin I to produce angiotensin II (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe), the potent vasoconstrictor octapeptide. ACE is a dicarboxypeptidase with two catalytic domains.
