Overview
Somatostatin → SSTR2 is a bioactive peptide with well-characterized properties and therapeutic applications.
Mechanism of Action
Somatostatin binds SSTR2 (class A GPCR), activating Gαi/o → inhibits adenylyl cyclase → reduces cAMP. Also activates protein phosphatases, K+ channels, and inhibits Ca2+ channels. Suppresses hormone secretion and cell proliferation.
