Tau Aggregation (Self-association) is a bioactive peptide with well-characterized properties and therapeutic applications.
Mechanism of Action
Hyperphosphorylated tau detaches from microtubules and aggregates into paired helical filaments (PHFs) and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). Two hexapeptide motifs (275VQIINK280 and 306VQIVYK311) in R2 and R3 repeats form cross-β structure. Prion-like spreading between neurons.
